Peace Through Agriculture

“The White Rose Campaign”

From Conflict to Cultivation

Mission

Rooted in the principle of planting Global Gardens for food security, the Heidi Kühn Global Peace Foundation advances the White Rose as a global symbol of cultivating peace through the land. The White Rose reflects both the beauty of what the earth can grow and the moral urgency of planting peace through agriculture worldwide.

As conflicts intensify across the globe, we champion regenerative agriculture as a pathway to stability—reminding global citizens that when we nourish the soil, we nourish peace. We partner with reputable NGOs, civil society organizations, educational institutions, and local governments to plant Global Gardens that restore dignity, resilience, and hope.

Where Peace Takes Root

  • Our White Rose Campaign inspires a world rooted in peace, serving as a global invitation to cultivate a more peaceful tomorrow.

  • We advance global thought leadership in cultivating peace through agriculture by partnering with The UC Berkeley Kühn Institute for Post-Conflict Development Studies, hosting high-impact forums that drive research, dialogue, and community-centered solutions.

  • We spotlight the women cultivating peace through agriculture—sharing their stories to inspire global regeneration and honor the 2026 UN Year of the Woman Farmer.

World Food Prize Laureate

For over 25 years, Heidi has walked through fields scarred by landmines—literal and metaphorical—and helped transform them into vineyards, orchards, and farmland that nourish families and rebuild communities.

Now she invites the world to join her in planting white roses everywhere—living symbols of our shared longing for peace.

Kühn Initiative for

Post Conflict Development Studies

The Kühn Initiative supports academic research and outreach programming that focuses on the following areas of priority:

  • Developing detailed knowledge of agriculture in post-conflict zones

  • Supporting research on economic development in post-conflict societies

  • The study of demilitarization and development

  • Promoting peace through economic stability and prosperity

These efforts are interdisciplinary, connecting fields such as agricultural science, natural resource management, international development, political science, conflict studies, and area studies, with an emphasis on academic study that meets practical, real-world needs of farmers, activists, charitable foundations, and international aid organizations in relevant areas.

Peace begins with a seed

Her work highlights resilience, global partnership, and the power of turning “seeds of terror into seeds of hope,” inspiring communities and leaders worldwide to invest in peace through agriculture.

In honor of the UN Year of the Woman Farmer 2026

The White Rose Campaign will feature stories about women farmers around the world—global citizens who restore land, strengthen food security for their families and communities, and cultivate peace through agriculture.

Our journey began January 1st, 2026 in Mumbai, India as Heidi joined hands with women leading the way to plant peace.

It begins with a single white rose
soft in its petals, steadfast in its thorns.

For Heidi Kühn, it symbolizes hope and the courage peace requires.
From mines to vines, she heals both soil and soul, planting global gardens worldwide.

The White Rose Campaign invites us all to help peace take root.
